Adventures in Outskirting:
Or How I Learned to Give up on Myself and Embrace Big Time Sensuality

This blog is just filled with posts by me discussing music. I called it “outskirting” to sound artsy and cool (I explain the “Big Time Sensuality” part in my first blog post). I don’t think “outskirting” is really a word. I keep getting red squigglies underneath it and it doesn’t show up in the dictionaries. But that is OK, Shakespeare made up a lot of words and everyone thinks he is pretty rad, so what if I steal a little bit of his thunder? No harm, no foul.

Seriously though, all I am going to do here is talk about music and practice my writing, hoping against hope that people will think I am cool. I will also put up lists of music I have been listened to, and in doing so show that I think others care about the music I like. Maybe you will, maybe you won’t, but regardless, outskirting always promises some big time sensuality. Also, keep in mind that I RECOMMEND EVERYTHING I REVIEW REGARDLESS OF THE RATING I GIVE IT.  And keep in mind that any seemingly racist, sexist, homophobic thing that I say is a JOKE; waxing caustic, remember?

This is an addition to this about page, arising from some advice given to me by a random “how to run a blog” tutorial. Apparently, I am supposed to give people some information on who I am; so here it is. My nickname around wordpress and elsewhere is egads, which is just a word that I think sounds cool, and it is post modern enough for people to think that I am somewhat “in the scene”. To be honest, though, I am not “in the scene” at all. I am a bedroom DJ, mixing with Traktor from Native Instruments and starting to learn Ableton Live. I live in Kingston, Ontario, which is a fucking shithole and is colder than, well, colder than Jeffery Dahmer’s heart (if he had one). I am currently finishing the final year of my undergrad in philosophy at Queen’s University, and will hopefully be starting my Master’s next year. So, what are my credentials you ask? I listen to a lot of fucking music… A LOT. I generally get to a couple new albums a day and read over most of the bigger review sites on the net, as well as a couple smaller ones. I have written some music related content for my local paper, but found the work too constricting. So, now I am writing a blog, if only to practice my journalism and see whether or not I am any good at this music thing. My musical tastes range far and wide, but usually hover around “odd” electronic music and hip-hop, but at times coasts over to dance music, because I think there is a b-boy underneath this pitiful body of mine. There it is, my bio, I hope this doesn’t scare you all away, the tutorials said honesty is the best policy, but I am sure if I just fucking lied people would be happier.

To navigate the site, simply head over to the “navigate” bar on the side and sift through the categories. Posts are labeled by genre, artist and by topic. I generally don’t review anything that I dislike, but once in a while I will post a “Worst Of…” review, so look out for mass amounts of slander. This also means that I recommend almost everything I review, and usually I recommend it highly unless I say otherwise.

Thanks and welcome.
